Seeking the Reality

It seems like all my life I sought for something real, something that would give meaning to my human existence. Some very traumatic experiences in religion caused me to be completely disgusted with it, and I turned my back to anything of Christianity and began to seek reality in the world. My pit became deeper and darker. At nineteen I married and soon afterwards I had two children, a lovely house, car, etc. But still the lost feeling within followed me.

Then I met a woman who told me I had one need--Jesus Christ. I ran from her, but it seemed everywhere I went there she was preaching to me. Soon the Lord began to work in my life-sickness, migraines, a marriage ready to collapse--one thing after another until the fight in me was gone and I yielded my life completely to the Lord. Immediately He rushed in and cleansed me, freed me from my past, healed my marriage, and made me whole in Himself. Such mercy!!

But where could I have fellowship with other Christians? To answer my prayer the Lord led us to Florida, where He revealed to me how divided His Body is and how He yearns for His Body to be made one in Him.

Other circumstances came and we soon moved west, and in His mercy he brought us to the local church in Los Angeles. Here we witnessed the reality of the oneness of the Body. He brought us home, and we never will leave. That was in 1969, and the experiences and enjoyment of our dear Lord are always so new, so fresh and so living as we fellowship with Him and with one another. Such reality is ours as we exercise our spirit, spend much time in the Word both individually and with one another, and enjoy the marvelous fellowship that is in the Body. He truly fills our every need with His dear self and fills us with His joy and peace.

Here we are experiencing the reality of Ephesians 4:15-16: “But holding to truth in love, we may grow up into Him in all things, who is the Head, Christ, out from whom all the Body, being joined together and being knit together through every joint of the rich supply and through the operation in the measure of each one part, causes the growth of the Body unto the building up of itself in love.” How glorious this is.
